One wild guess

This is the last thing we expected on the farm. But man oh man are we stoked about it.

Welcome to fiber optic speeds.

They are laying the cable this week.

Vineyard greens

For those with vineyards on the High Plains, grape harvest started early this year. The drought and heat have played a doozy of a hand and an earlier harvest, unfortunately, means lower yields.

At Buena Suerte, we won't harvest this year. In fact, when we do see grape clusters forming on our first leaf vines, we cut them off. This first year, the goal is all about growing, not producing.

They grow up so fast

Cotton is now as big as Aslan.

But Aslan can still open a can of you-know-what on her.

She doesn't stand a chance. Yet.

Cotton blooms

Nick is doing a fabulous job with the cotton. We have a stand folks! A perty stand. And that's saying a whole lot this year.

August peanut update

For this city girl who has inordinate amounts of trouble keeping houseplants alive, I'm just in awe of these peanuts.

Though the heat has stunted their growth, they're pegging right along, sending shoots down into the earth to grow those peanuts.

Mayim

Nathan found what was left of Mayim late last night in the vineyard. She adored the vineyard. He said the state of decomposition was such that she'd been there for a while.

Today there are no words. Only loss.
